Rheingau

South-facing slopes above the Rhine, once tended by Cistercian monks, still produce some of Germany's most celebrated Riesling.

Rheingau has around 150 wineries to visit. Its wines carry appellations such as Rheingau. Signature grapes include Riesling, Spätburgunder, Grauburgunder, and Weißburgunder.
