Switzerland

Switzerland's vineyards climb some of Europe's steepest slopes, from the terraced hillsides above Lake Geneva to sun facing banks along the Rhône and Rhine. Chasselas is the country's signature white grape, though pinot noir, merlot and gamay each have their own strongholds, and most of what these estates produce rarely leaves the country. We list more than 250 wineries and cellars across seven regions, including Valais, Vaud, Geneva and Ticino, home to appellations like AOC Lavaux and Calamin. Plan a tasting at a family run wine estate or book a walk through the terraces before the harvest.
