Poland

Monks were making wine in Poland long before phylloxera and decades of communist era neglect all but ended the tradition, and only in the last generation has winegrowing returned in earnest. Growers in young regions such as Lower Silesia and the Lubuskie lowlands favor cold hardy hybrids like solaris and rondo, suited to a short, cool growing season. Vinopanorama already lists more than 60 Polish wineries and wine producers, many small and family run, open for tastings by arrangement.
