Georgia's winemaking reaches back some 8,000 years, and the qvevri, a clay vessel buried in the ground, is still how many growers ferment their wine today. We list more than 40 wineries and family marani across the country, concentrated in Kakheti but found well beyond it, working with grapes like Saperavi and Rkatsiteli. Few places make a cellar visit feel more like stepping into living history, and a tasting is easy to arrange.
